Hi everyone!

It’s Woop and Wob and today, we will continue our trip report with a review of our flight from Chicago to Tokyo on ANA Premium Economy! To our surprise, it’s also on a Star Wars plane!

Please note that this review was from our trip in November 2019. The experience may be very different nowadays.

Below is the itinerary of the entire trip and we will be posting these posts as they’re ready.

The Flight

Flight: NH111 Cities: ORD-HND (Chicago to Haneda Tokyo) Seats: 18A, 18C (window and aisle)
Date & Time: November 24, 2019, 16:20-20:35 (+1)

Woop and Wob always sit together! :)

Note: Although it looks like the rest rooms are just in front of us, those were reserved for business class passengers. We had to go back a cabin to use the restrooms in Economy class.

Amenities

As you can see, since this airplane is a special Star Wars themed plane, the headrests are covered with a BB-8 cover. Unfortunately, as you can see in our premium economy seats, there were no specially themed headrest cover. It’s the typical ANA leather covers.

Star wars themed headrest covers!
Every economy seat got them!
Unfortunately, premium economy did not receive them. :(

In addition to the basic pillow and blanket, premium economy passengers also received slippers and Sony noise-cancelling headphones (the same ones that business class received). Note that these are not the super high end noise cancelling headphones, but they’re pretty good compared to ear buds. Lastly, the flight attendants also came around and passed out eye masks, toothbrushes, ear plugs, and face masks. These amenities are also available in economy class, but you have to specifically request them.

Also, note that the seats are wider than in economy and there is also a leg rest, which is super comfortable!

Food

Shortly after takeoff, we were treated to an amazing Japanese meal. Premium economy passengers get the same meal as economy, but the difference is that premium economy also gets business class desserts!

We’ll let the following pictures speak for themselves!

We started with kabosu (an exclusive ANA drink) and senbei (rice crackers).
Here's what the senbei looked like.
Here's the full meal; it was grilled salmon and lots of sides!
They even served miso soup in an exclusive ANA star wars cup!
We then had Haagen-Dazs for dessert!
It was accompanied with green tea.
Then we had dessert again. Chocolate cake and a red bean bun from biz class.

Service

Overall, the service was amazing as usual. ANA is the perfect example of Japanese hospitality and we always felt welcomed and attended to, even in premium economy. The flight attendants regularly offer drinks to the entire cabin and at the end of the flight, they passed out candy and a unique Star Wars boarding certificate!

ANA x Star Wars swag!

Final Thoughts

We had a great flight from Chicago to Tokyo on ANA’s premium economy. The seat was great, the food was great, and the service was great. We truly enjoyed flying with ANA!
